Curb appeal is a term that gets used over and over again when it comes to getting your home ready to sell. But what is curb appeal? How can it be done? Is it necessary? How much money should be spent in order to get that curb appeal? These are all great questions that I hope to address with this article.

Before we can talk about how curb appeal helps you in the sale of your home, we must first understand what curb appeal is. When driving through our neighborhood, or any neighborhood for that matter, we all look at the houses in the area. We comment on the yards, the color scheme of the door and shutters, the bushes and plants are the items that catch our eyes. This is curb appeal. We all want to have great curb appeal. We want passersby to look at our yards and get ideas for their yards. We all want our property to look good, even if our home is not currently on the market.

But how do we get that great look we all desire? As a REALTOR, I have had the opportunity to show a lot of houses to potential buyers. I listen to their comments as we pull up to a house. Before we even walk into the house, they start talking about the look of the house and the yard. Here are some of the items that are always talked about and how to improve them…
