Trash pick up in Pine Ridge is part of the Town of Bluffton contract with Waste Management. Waste Management runs mechanical trucks to pick up trash, operated by the driver, with no other collectors riding the back of the truck, as some manual collectors do. This allows Waste Management to operate a rapid and efficient trash pickup (which saves Bluffton money), as long as the trash is all in the green Waste Management container. Waste Management is not obligated to remove trash NOT placed in the container.
In situations like missed pickups (as with Hurricane Dorian), many homes throughout the Town are inconvenienced with extra trash that won’t fit inside (or even on) the containers. In that case, the Town recommends taking the excess trash to the Solid Waste and Recycling Center, at 104 Simmonsville Road, where you can drop off any recycling or trash at no charge. This address is the southwest corner of the intersection of Bluffton Parkway and Simmonsville Road, so it is very easy to access.
